This past weekend, Dan and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. All I could think was… “wait, it’s been a year?” Here’s a quick ‘flashback’ of our first year together.
We were married on January 26th in a small intimate ceremony. (At this point I had a broken foot and was in a boot…I refused to get married in a boot and put my heel over my swollen foot!)
Our ‘honeymoon’ was a long weekend in Milwaukee at the WWE Pay-per-view, Elimination Chamber.
Much of our spring, summer and fall was spent fishing on the Mississippi River. We were also able to head up north with my family for some fishing on the Chippewa Flowage.
One of our vintage style engagement photos. We had a wonderful time preparing for this and on the day.
We had a wedding celebration in July. We were so blessed to have both sides of our family here on this great day!
I had to get Dan to our County Fair, it’s just what you do!
Dan participated in a photography competition and made it to the semi-finals. So proud of him! I dragged him to the local zoo afterwards! Check out his amazing photography here —> Dan Howard Photography or check him out on facebook.
We attended our first reenactment event and have VERY much found a new hobby. More than that, the people we met are an amazing group of people who we are looking forward to getting to know more.
More than getting married, we were both proud and happy to bring our amazing families together. This is us pictured on Yorkshire Day at my parents house in Wisconsin.
We decided to start a family and announced we were pregnant on Thanksgiving Day.
We celebrated New Years Eve with a nice dinner and headed to a local casino where we met up with my parents.
This just shows a few of the many things during our first year together. Marriage is a beautiful thing. I have learned that although I don’t think I was selfish before, you REALLY can’t be selfish at all because you now are doing things and making decision for the both of you. I’m lucky. I’m lucky that I found my best friend (not in the most conventional way) but I found him. He’s my soul mate, best friend, partner in crime, my “get your head out of your a**”, loves me more than anything husband. I feel special every day because of him and for that I will always be thankful, blessed and honored to be his wife.
