18 weeks and counting

We just finished out 18 weeks this past week by ringing in the new year and taking a nice weekend trip to the Twin Cities.

For the new year we headed out to a nice dinner in town.  I’m not sure where everyone comes from in this small rural town but the restaurant was packed and we even had to wait a bit even though we had reservations.  Nonetheless we had great meals and it was nice to go out to a “nicer than normal” dinner.  After we finished, we headed to a casino (GOOD NEWS! they have a no smoking floor now…so glad).

We meant to take a picture all night but forgot, so Dan snapped a quick one when we got home!

New Years Eve

New Years Eve

After a successful New Years, because I feel as though all I’ve been is sick for a good 4 months, we laid low for the majority of the week.  I’m not sure what happened but on Thursday night, I ended up falling asleep between 6pm-6:30pm, I woke up around 10:30, ate two English biscuits and then went and crawled in to bed.  This had me feeling so rested on Friday morning that I felt restless and asked Dan if he’d want to take a weekend trip.

On Saturday we headed up to the twin cities, once there we made stops at the St. Paul Cathedral, drove around the capitol and while on our way to Minneapolis, ran into the sign for the “Como Park Zoo and Conservatory“.  I had read about this but wasn’t sure if the zoo part was open since it was a blistering -7 degrees Celsius outside.  Since it’s a FREE park and a suggested donation of $2-$3,  we decided to take a chance.  Let me tell you, it was fantastic.  I need to get better at taking pictures when we go out.  Dan is always snapping away so in my mind I’m saying “he’s got it covered”…and he definitely does, but then I want to put photos on my blog, and I’ve got nothing…. *sigh*.  Check out the link to their website that I listed above.  This is a great destination for an afternoon date or a fun afternoon with kids.  With no intention of heading to the Mall of America, we decided that might be a good place to watch the Packers vs. Vikings game.  I scored some clearance maternity shorts, so if you see me this spring/summer and I’m always wearing the same shorts it’s because I refuse to pay $45 for a pair of preggo shorts! 🙂 After realizing that we were going to have to wait 2 hours for a seat to watch the game we opted for some chinese food and frozen yogurt, headed back to the hotel and watched the game there.  I’m ashamed to say that I slept for the majority of the game but we won so at least I’ll get another chance this Saturday.

The 18th week kind of slipped away from me, perhaps because I slept through most of it.  Looking forward to week 19 and I’ll tell you why…..soon! 🙂
